Dr. Jaw John Chang is the founder, as well as a dancer and choreographer, of the Chinese-American Dancing Group. In the last 40 years, he has also founded three other dance groups, ultimately leading to his formation of the America Chinese Dance Association in 1988. Dr. Chang served as President of the association from 1988 to 1990 and in 1997. He is an editor of the syllabus "Ten Level Examination in Chinese Dance," and has held the annual Ten Level Examination in Southern California since 1999. Dr. Chang received the 1991 City of Los Angeles Cultural Grant Award and in 1998 was awarded the "Flying Phoenix award," for his contribution of 60 dance pieces and 10 dance dissertations.

張肇壯博士是「華裔樂舞」創辦人、藝術總監、編導與舞者。四十年來還先後創辦了「越南安琪兒舞蹈團」、「台灣大學民族舞蹈社」與「泰國中華舞蹈團」，並共同發起創辦「華裔舞蹈協會」，歷任 1988（首任）、 1989 、 1990以及1997年會長。1988年，張博士榮獲台灣舞蹈界最高榮譽的「舞蹈飛鳳獎」。於1991年也曾榮獲洛杉磯市「中國舞蹈文化基金獎」。舞蹈作品共有60個，有關舞蹈著作與文獻共十篇。並發展了一套完整科學化的中國舞蹈基本訓練。同時創辦「中國舞分級文憑考試」。
